, I have been utilizing Polaroid film, print magazines, glass (shards and sheet), and cosmetic materials.
I am playing with applied makeup on portraits while capturing a different perspective on commercial work.
I want to blur the lines between commercial and fine art photographic work.
My intention regarding these images is to make pictures that play on perception.
The base layer (DUE TO COVID RESTRICTIONS) is of a Polaroid taken by myself or a photograph taken from various prints.
The next layer of the glass acts as a barrier with the figure beneath.
For the third layer, I apply cosmetics onto the glass.
With this technique, product colors appear on or near the area where they would be applied in real life.
In making these photographs, I captured the idea of multi-layered humans.
For example, how we put ourselves together is a factor in how we are perceived by others.
The glass acts as a literal form of transparency.
It shows the base layer of who we are and what we desire to be.
